14:0 - France's stars completely out of control
Oh, poor Gibraltar: the small footballing nation is badly beaten in the furor caused by the French. Warren Zaire-Emery makes a curious debut in the "Equipe Tricolore's" biggest win. Bayern star Kingsley Coman performs brilliantly.
Warren Zaire-Emery celebrated a memorable debut as the youngest French international since 1914 in France's highest-ever international victory. In their 14:0 (7:0) home win against Gibraltar in the European Championship qualifiers, the French surpassed their previous record of September 6, 1995 against Azerbaijan (10:0). Coach Didier Deschamps' team has already qualified for the European Championship in Germany.
Zaire-Emery was in the starting line-up and replaced Eduardo Camavinga (21/Real Madrid) as the youngest French international since the First World War at the age of 17 years, eight months and ten days. He scored to make it 3-0 at the interval (16'), but was upended by Ethan Santos. The PSG talent remained injured and had to be substituted with a swollen right ankle. Santos was shown the red card after a VAR check (18').
The game began with two own goals from the visitors through unlucky Santos (3rd) and Aymen Mouelhi (4th). After Zaire-Emery's goal, the French side continued their merciless attack against the decimated visitors: Kylian Mbappe (30th, penalty/75th/82nd), Jonathan Clauss (34th), Kingsley Coman (37th/66th), Youssouf Fofana (37th), Adrien Rabiot (64th), Ousmane Dembele (73rd) and Olivier Giroud (89th/90th +1) completed the record-breaking victory.
Despite Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick and multiple goals from other French players, it was Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman who stood out with a brace in France's historic 14-0 victory over Gibraltar, breaking their previous record set against Azerbaijan in 1995. The young French international, Warren Zaire-Emery, also made history by becoming the youngest French player to score for the national team during this match.
