Premio Letterario - Iris Wolff - Premio Uwe-Johnson

The author Iris Wolff receives annually the Uwe-Johnson-Prize for her novel "Lichtungen". The jury selected the laureate from 90 submissions in the prose and essay categories, as stated. The award is endowed with 20.000 Euro. The presentation takes place during the Uwe-Johnson-Days on September 20 at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Representative Office in Berlin, as announced.

Wolff's novel, published in spring 2024 by Klett Cotta, is appreciated by the jury as a search for traces, just like Uwe Johnson. The author deals with the restoration of a past reality in her narrative, and like Johnson, she refuses to yield to moralizing.

The Uwe-Johnson-Prize has been awarded since 1994. Since 2005, it has been given in alternation with the Uwe-Johnson-Foster-Prize. In 2022, Jenny Erpenbeck received the Uwe-Johnson-Prize for her novel "Kairos". Johnson was born nearly 90 years ago and died in 1984. His most famous work is "Jahrestage".

Uwe Johnson, a prominent author from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is renowned for his literary works, with "Jahrestage" being his most famous. The annual Uwe-Johnson-Literary Prize, established in 1994, honors authors who share Johnson's literary style and themes. The 2022 recipient of this prestigious award was Jenny Erpenbeck for her novel "Kairos."
