- Zurich reminds him of one of his movie hits.

Will Smith (55) was stranded in Zurich over the weekend - and he loved it. The Hollywood star posted an Instagram video of him strolling through the largest city in Switzerland - all by himself. No wonder, as Will Smith was out and about at 5:30 AM on Sunday. His flight couldn't take off on Saturday, so he had to spend the night in Zurich, the "Bad Boys" star revealed. "It's gorgeous! I'll be back," he wrote alongside the clip.

It doesn't happen often that he can walk through a city undisturbed, Smith swoons. So, he enjoys the peace, only interrupted by a bird. He's amazed by swans in the water and Swiss Army knives in a store window. "Swiss Army knives in Switzerland, get it?" he laughs into the camera.

Will Smith didn't initially reveal where he was headed with the stopover in Zurich. But later, he posted photos from Marbella, dressed elegantly. In the Spanish coastal city, he attended a gala for the charity organization Fundación Starlite.

Memories of "I Am Legend"

The empty streets remind Will Smith of one of his best films. "I'm having flashbacks of 'I Am Legend'," he reveals. In the 2007 post-apocalyptic film, he played virologist Robert Neville, who wanders through a deserted New York as the apparent last survivor.

The actor immediately slips into "I Am Legend" mode. He searches for Fred, a mannequin from the film, and briefly recites a line from the sci-fi thriller.

It's no coincidence that Will Smith is thinking of "I Am Legend". A sequel to the box office hit is currently in development. Announced in 2022, "I Am Legend 2" is slowly taking shape, as Michael B. Jordan (37) revealed in June. The "Creed" star will play the lead role alongside Will Smith in the sequel.

Spoiler alert: Will Smith's character Robert Neville died a heroic death in "I Am Legend". But the sequel will be based on an alternative ending that can be seen on the 2007 film's DVD. In it, Neville survives, as he did in the multiple film adaptations of Richard Matheson's (1926-2013) original novel.

Will Smith's Instagram post of his solo stroll in Zurich garnered appreciation from his followers, with one commenting, "Your 'I Am Legend' moments in Zurich are giving us chills." After enjoying his peaceful exploration, Will Smith shared a throwback video of himself filming 'I Am Legend' in New York, captioning it, "Instagram is a great place to start reminiscing about classic films."
