Zuckerberg suffers cruciate ligament rupture: no fight with Musk?

A potential cage fight between tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk is a long way off: Meta boss Zuckerberg has torn his ACL and will be out of action for months. "I tore my ACL while sparring and just had surgery to replace it," the 39-year-old posted on Instagram. He also posted a picture in which he can be seen in a hospital bed with his knee splinted.

Zuckerberg explained that he had wanted to train for a mixed martial arts fight in early 2024. "But that's a bit delayed now. But I'm still looking forward to fighting after my recovery." Mixed martial arts (MMA) combines different types of combat sports and martial arts such as kickboxing, Thai boxing and wrestling. Zuckerberg, who thanked the doctors and the team for their support, has recently been working regularly with martial arts trainers.

Musk knows "how to reach me"

Zuckerberg and Tesla boss Musk have repeatedly triggered speculation about a possible duel in the cage with posts on social media in recent months. Musk challenged Zuckerberg in June, who agreed.

After a few weeks of radio silence, the 52-year-old Musk then wrote in August that he would need to recover from shoulder surgery for a few months. Zuckerberg then expressed skepticism that there would still be a fight. If Musk ever seriously wants to get involved in an official event, "he knows how to reach me", said the Meta boss. Until then, he will compete with people "who take the sport seriously". Zuckerberg himself will now have to take a break for a few months.

  1. Despite Zuckerberg's recent cruciate ligament rupture, which occurred during sparring and required surgery, he remains optimistic about participating in a mixed-martial-arts fight after his recovery.
  2. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has shown interest in a cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta (formerly Facebook), after a series of provocative posts on social media.
  3. Mark Zuckerberg has been training for mixed martial arts, incorporating methods from various disciplines such as kickboxing, Thai boxing, and wrestling into his regimen.
  4. In response to Musk's need for shoulder surgery, which would delay their potential cage fight, Zuckerberg suggested that Musk could contact him directly if he was serious about competing in an official event.
  5. While Zuckerberg is on hiatus due to his injury, he will continue to compete against individuals who are committed to the mixed-martial-arts sport, maintaining his passion for the art.
