On social network X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vehemently denounced the assault on Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico. "Every measure must be taken to prevent violence from becoming the norm in any nation, in any setting or sphere," Zelensky stated on Wednesday. Ukraine expresses its solidarity with Slovakia and hopes for Fico's swift recuperation.
Fico had previously endured a shooting at a cabinet meeting in Handlova, which critically wounded him. He was rushed to the hospital. The assailant was reportedly detained.
