Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose - Your divorce is finalized.
American singer Billy Ray Cyrus (62) and his ex-wife Firerose (35) have finalized their divorce ten months after tying the knot. The Tennessee court sealed the deal on Monday (August 5), according to TMZ. Back in May, the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer had filed for divorce, with the couple trading public accusations since then.
The messy divorce is now over. Cyrus and Firerose, born Johanna Rose Hodges, signed and sealed the necessary documents in Tennessee. They reportedly reached an agreement on Friday through meditation. As per Page Six, Firerose won't receive any money from her ex. However, Cyrus will give up his claims to royalties for songs they co-wrote and released. It's reported that Firerose had legally changed her last name to Cyrus, with Billy Ray believing she married him for that reason alone.
"This is the craziest scam I've ever heard of, not to mention I'm right in the middle of it and the target," Cyrus stated. Previously, he accused her of defrauding him of around $100,000 by making unauthorized charges on his credit card.
Firerose, however, claimed she had access to several of his credit cards since 2022 and never had a limit. She countered with accusations of his "unpredictable and inconsistent" behavior, equating it to "extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse." She attributed his behavior to his "persistent drug use, coupled with marijuana consumption."
Cyrus, on the other hand, claimed it was Firerose who had abused and threatened him, saying she would ruin his career if he divorced her.
Billy Ray Cyrus wanted the marriage annulled
The father of pop star Miley Cyrus (31) and the 26-year-younger Firerose have known each other for 14 years, meeting on the set of "Hannah Montana." They started making music together in 2021, which led to their love. They got engaged in August 2022 and married in October 2023. In May 2023, he filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. He also sought an annulment on grounds of fraud.
This was Cyrus' third marriage. He was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991. He then married Tish Cyrus (57) for 28 years, with whom he has three children, and also adopted her two children from a previous marriage.
Despite the ongoing disputes and accusations, the annulment request related to the 'War of the Roses' between Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose was not granted. Instead, their divorce was finalized with Firerose maintaining her new last name and relinquishing any financial claims, while Cyrus surrendered his royalties from their co-written songs.
