A 17-year-old tragically plummeted around 40 meters to his demise from a public spot at Hexentanzplatz, situated near Thale (Harz). The medical professional on-site from the mountain rescue team, as mentioned by the Halberstadt police, could only verify the teenager's unfortunate fate. Preliminary information indicates that he scaled over the platform's barrier on a Sunday afternoon. Witnesses promptly alerted the emergency services.

As initially disclosed by "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung", the 17-year-old was in the company of a small cluster hailing from Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Harz. There's a possibility that he scaled the platform's barrier to capture a snapshot of his group.

Demanding ordeal for the mountain rescue team

The teen's body was retrieved with the assistance of a police helicopter. The authorities are handling the incident as an accident, yet the precise details are yet to be clarified. According to the head of Thale's mountain rescue team, Jens Kowalewski, twelve rescuers participated in the operation. It was a formidable task, and the presence of a helicopter was crucial for its success, otherwise, it would have been significantly more challenging.

The emergency medical team, dispatched upon receiving the alert, provided first aid efforts at the scene. Subsequently, due to the gravity of the injuries, it was necessary to transport the teenager to the hospital for further emergency medical care.
