The Mannheim Prosecutor's Office has accused Xavier Naidoo of inciting hatred. They made this announcement on Thursday, without mentioning his name. Naidoo, a 52-year-old musician known for songs like "Ich kenne nichts" and "Alles kann besser werden", is suspected of denying the Holocaust on a Telegram channel last year and sharing antisemitic content.

Naidoo's previous charges for similar reasons

This isn't the first time Naidoo has faced such accusations. In July 2023, he was charged with incitement to hatred by the Mannheim Prosecutor's Office for four separate incidents in 2020 and 2021. Once again, these cases involve him denying the murder of Jewish people during the Nazi era and sharing antisemitic content through Telegram. Additionally, he's accused of insulting someone. Multiple people made criminal complaints against Naidoo.

The office has asked to combine the two charges. Since the case is considered "of special significance", it should be heard in a large criminal court. The Mannheim District Court will determine whether it will hold a main trial against Naidoo. If convicted, incitement to hatred can result in a fine or a prison sentence of up to five years. Until then, Naidoo is considered innocent and has denied the allegations, according to the prosecutor's office.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, Naidoo gained attention for spreading conspiracy theories. In April 2022, he publicly admitted that he had "gone crazy" and apologized to those he had upset and offended.
