Woman accuses Gérard Depardieu of sexual harassment
The French judiciary has been investigating Depardieu for several years. 13 women have accused the famous actor of sexual assault and violence during filming. Now another former colleague is accusing him of sexual harassment. He repeatedly "groped" her.
French actor Gérard Depardieu has been accused of another sexual assault. The actress Hélène Darras accuses the 74-year-old of sexually harassing her during the filming of the movie "Disco" in 2007, according to the Paris public prosecutor's office. The public prosecutor's office is now examining how to proceed in view of the statute of limitations.
Darras has already testified against Depardieu as a witness before the judiciary and has also spoken to the investigative portal "Mediapart". In September, she finally filed a complaint against the actor known from films such as "The Last Metro", "Cyrano of Bergerac" and "Asterix and Obelix".
"It took me a year to go from testifying to pressing charges," Darras said now. "Going into a police station and telling a police officer that you have been touched in your private parts is not easy. It takes time to think about it."
An investigative report by French television channel France 2 will also deal with the actress's allegations on Thursday, in which Darras says Depardieu repeatedly "groped" her during the filming of "Disco". She was 26 years old at the time.
Accusations from 13 women
Depardieu has been under investigation for rape allegations since the end of 2020. The actress Charlotte Arnould accuses the actor of raping her twice in his Paris apartment in 2018 when she was 22 years old.
Numerous other women have also accused Depardieu of sexual assault in the past. According to a report by the French online portal "Mediapart" from April 2023, 13 women have accused him of sexual assault and violence during filming. The actor - a giant of French cinema - firmly rejects the accusations.
