Alec Baldwin - Wife Hilaria at his side in court

It must have been a heavy walk for Hilaria Baldwin (40) as she accompanied her husband, actor Alec Baldwin (66), to court on July 9. The current trial of Alec Baldwin in New Mexico, regarding involuntary manslaughter following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during "Rust" Western filming, began. The Baldwin couple, along with lawyers Alex Spiro and Luke Nikas, appeared at the First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe.

The jury selection was on the agenda for the trial's start. According to recordings published by the "New York Post," Hilaria was seen at the courthouse with her youngest of the seven children. The caravan arrived in several cars. Before waiting journalists, the Baldwins - he in a charcoal suit, she in a beige dress - did not comment. If convicted, Alec Baldwin faces up to 18 months in prison.

Alec Baldwin and his counsel unexpectedly appeared for a hearing before the actual trial began on Monday, according to "Deadline." The prosecution's motion was reportedly denied, and Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer decided that Baldwin's role as a producer on "Rust" was not relevant to the case, which may lessen his responsibility for the tragic set accident. Additionally, the court reportedly decided that the general behavior of the actor during filming could not be included in the trial. The prosecution claimed Baldwin disregarded additional safety precautions on the set in Montana.

A conviction has already been handed down

In October 2021, Halyna Hutchins, the 42-year-old Ukrainian cinematographer, was fatally shot by a bullet from a gun held by Baldwin on the "Rust" film set. The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was already found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison. The reason the weapon was loaded with live ammunition remains unclear. The hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, July 10.

Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin have been married since 2012. The couple has seven children, ranging from 22 months to ten years old.

  1. During the court proceedings, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the "Rust" film set, was in the spotlight as she was previously found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for her role in Halyna Hutchins' death.
  2. The public prosecutor's office in New Mexico is handling the case against Alec Baldwin, with the trial taking place in the First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe.
  3. Alec Baldwin's attorney, Alex Spiro, was present at the court hearing, working alongside Luke Nikas to argue Baldwin's case.
  4. After the court proceedings, Hilaria Baldwin was seen with their youngest child, leaving the courthouse in a car alongside her husband.
  5. The New York Post published recordings of Hilaria Baldwin's appearance at the courthouse, sparking interest in the media and public.
  6. If found guilty, Alec Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison, as per the penal code of New Mexico for involuntary manslaughter.
