Why Priscilla Presley never married again
Priscilla Presley did not remarry after her failed marriage to music icon Elvis Presley - apparently for a very specific reason. During a Q&A session in Las Vegas, the actress explained that she no longer felt the need to get married after her six-year marriage to Elvis. "No one could hold a candle to him," the 78-year-old was quoted as saying by People magazine.
Priscilla Presley and the "King of Rock'n'Roll" were married from 1967 to 1973. At the time of the wedding, he was 32 and she was 22 years old. In the end, the marriage did not last. "Unfortunate circumstances and unhappy differences have arisen between the two parties, as a result of which they have been living apart since February 23, 1972 and intend to dissolve their marriage," People magazine quoted from the divorce documents at the time.
There are rumors that Priscilla Presley vowed not to marry anyone else as long as Elvis was still alive. In Las Vegas, the actress said: "I just don't think he would have been able to handle it."
She wants to be buried at Graceland
Elvis Presley died in 1977 at the age of 42. But even after his death, Priscilla Presley remained unmarried. The two had a daughter together, Lisa Marie Presley, who died earlier this year at the age of 54 as a result of an intestinal blockage.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Priscilla Presley wished to be buried next to her late ex-husband on his Graceland estate. The not-so-easy love story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley is also told in the film biography "Priscilla" by Sofia Coppola, which will be released in German cinemas on January 4, 2024. In collaboration with the music legend's ex-wife, Coppola takes a look at her marriage to Elvis from Priscilla Presley's perspective.
Priscilla Presley's love for her late husband Elvis Presley extended to her entertainment choices, often choosing to watch Elvis's films and performances as a source of comfort and enjoyment. Despite numerous offers, she has never remarried, evidently still feeling that no one could measure up to the "King of Rock'n'Roll."
