If Kamala Harris (59) was elected US-President in November, she would not only be the first woman at the helm of the country but also the first person without biological children since the 19th century. The current Vice President has two grown-up stepchildren from her husband Doug Emhoff (59) - Cole (29) and Ella Emhoff (25). The latter has been in the public eye since Harris' inauguration in January 2021 and advocates for her stepmother.

Who is Ella Emhoff?

The daughter of Douglas Emhoff and his first wife, film producer Kerstin Emhoff (57), grew up in California. Their divorce occurred in 2008. Six years later, her father married the then California Attorney General, Kamala Harris. Her stepchildren affectionately call her "Momala."

After high school, Ella Emhoff studied textile design at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has lived in the New York City neighborhood of Brooklyn, specifically Bushwick, for some time and is nicknamed "The First Daughter of Bushwick" jokingly. In May 2021, Kamala Harris shared a photo of the two on Instagram and wrote: "Congratulations to our daughter Ella on her graduation. I am so proud of you. Keep dreaming with ambition and there's nothing you can't achieve. With love, Momala."

Emhoff designs and knits colorful clothing and accessories and sells them through her Instagram account. She has over 320,000 followers and followers. She is celebrated for her unconventional, natural style - Emhoff has numerous prominent tattoos, wears little makeup, and does not shave her armpit hair. She has been in a relationship with "GQ" editor Sam Hine for several years.

Ella Emhoff made her first public appearance before a large audience at the Democratic National Convention in August 2020, where she gave a speech for her stepmother as a candidate for the position of Vice President. She called her "the best stepmother in the world" at the time.

On Monday (22. July), shortly after the news of Biden's retirement and Harris' possible candidacy became known, Ella Emhoff shared the viral X-post from singer Charli XCX (31), who wrote "kamala IS queen," in her Instagram Story and wrote: "Charli XCX gets it."

Two days later, she shared a selfie in her Story and invited her followers and followers to register to vote with a link. "Now is not the time to back down and shirk responsibility," she wrote. "It's up to all of us to show up, be active, and vote for our future."
