Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is back at work, filming his upcoming movie, "The Smashing Machine." However, his injury is causing some concern. The 52-year-old actor recently shared a video on Instagram showing off his swollen right elbow. He joked that it looked like he had a melon in his arm.
"Take a look at this," The Rock captioned the video. "See that baby over there? I think I stuffed a melon down there. Got roughed up on set today, think there's some damage to the soft tissues. It's pretty puffy, we'll see what happens."
Johnson's father, Rocky Johnson (1944-2020), often told his son, "A day without pain is like a day without sunshine." Johnson recalls this advice as he asks for suggestions on how to treat his injury. "I've had my fair share of dislocations and other injuries, but if you've got any good recommendations for anti-inflammatory creams, let me know," he said in the Instagram clip.
The actor-turned-wrestler is playing Mark Kerr, a wrestler and MMA fighter, in Safdie's latest directorial project. "The Smashing Machine" is being hailed as Johnson's most dramatic role to date, with production company A24 calling it a "powerful performance." Emily Blunt will also star in the movie.
Despite the pain, Johnson doesn't seem to be too bothered by his injury, stating he needs to "get the fluid out before I can get an MRI."
