Stream Christmas movies - Which highlights can be found on Disney+
Advent is here and with it, people are warming up for Christmas. To get you in the right mood for the festive season, streaming portals such as Disney+ and Co. have plenty of films and series to choose from. From classics such as "Kevin - Home Alone" to novelties like "Much Ado About Christmas": The American dream factory is offering these highlights in the run-up to Christmas.
"The Miracle of Manhattan"
The classic "The Miracle of Manhattan" (1994) tells the story of the Christmas season at Cole's department store. Lawyer Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins) and her daughter Susan (Mara Wilson) meet a friendly elderly gentleman named Kris Kringle (Richard Attenborough), who claims to be the real Santa Claus. Kris is hired as a department store Santa and spreads festive cheer, but soon finds himself in legal trouble when he claims to possess the identity of the real Santa Claus.
"Santa Clause: The Series"
The second season of"Santa Clause" will be available on Disney+ from November 8 and tells the story of Scott Calvin (Tim Allen), who continues his existence as Santa Claus after he was unable to find a worthy successor in the first season. However, because Christmas has been saved for the time being, Scott focuses on training his son Cal (Austin Kane): He is to take over the "family business" of Christmas in future and ends up in the middle of an adventure between elves and a North Pole conspiracy.
"Kevin - Home Alone"
The preparations for the Christmas vacations are also pure chaos for the McCallister family. Son Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) bursts his collar with all the hustle and bustle and is banished to the attic by his mother for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, he falls asleep. When he wakes up again, the family is already on the plane to Paris - without Kevin. His joy at having a storm-free pad is short-lived, as the burglar couple Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) sense a good opportunity. Although the 1990 film has been around for over 30 years, it is still one of the funniest Christmas classics.
"A lot of fuss about Christmas"
Because social worker Eddie Garrick (Ludacris) has bad childhood memories of Christmas, the festive season is a horror for him. This year, however, his ex-wife Allison (Teyonah Parris) is unable to attend and it falls to him to take his eight-year-old daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) with him on Christmas Eve. When Nick (Lil Rel Howery) suddenly emerges from the chimney and introduces himself as the "real" Santa Claus, the mess begins: Eddie doesn't believe a word the quirky man says and thinks he's ready for a psychiatrist, but Charlotte befriends him.
"Greg's diary: Don't panic at Christmas!"
The animated comic adaptation of Jeff Kinney's sixth book, which was published in Germany under the title "Don't Panic!", will be available on Disney+ from December 8. In it, the winter vacations begin for Greg (voiced by Marco Eßer) with anxiety about the games console he has wanted for Christmas for so long. Hoping that it won't come out that he and his friend Rowley have damaged a snowplow, the whole family is snowed in. But Greg's brother Rodrick suspects that he is up to something and so the hours under the blanket of snow become very intense - but also very entertaining.
"The Fairy Godmother"
The Christmas comedy "The Fairy Godmother" is about the young, inexperienced Eleanor (Jillian Bell), who is training to become a fairy godmother. When she hears that her dream job is in danger of dying out, she is determined to prove that mankind still needs good fairies. When Eleanor finds a letter from a sad twelve-year-old, she tracks down the sender, only to discover that Mackenzie (Isla Fisher) is now a 40-year-old single mother who works at a news station in Boston.
In addition to these, Disney+ has many other classic films on offer at Christmas, which are traditionally part of the festive season in Germany. The other films in the "Kevin" series as well as the complete "Santa Clause" trilogy and the "Die Hard" films are also available, both in the standard and premium subscriptions as well as in the new, cheaper subscription with advertising. Disney classics such as "Beauty and the Beast", "Mickey's Christmas", the two "Frozen" parts and "Disney's A Christmas Story" are also included.
