Sun or snow? - Where German celebrities spend Christmas

On December 4, the "Movie meets Media" event series celebrated its 70th birthday in Hamburg with around 600 guests. Numerous stars trudged through the heavy snow into the festively decorated Hotel Atlantic, many of whom were already in the Christmas spirit. The celebrities happily shared their Christmas and vacation plans for the festive season.

"I am delighted that we can once again celebrate 'Movie meets Media' so light-heartedly on such a grand scale," said host and initiator Sören Bauer, welcoming the guests together with new cooperation partner Aida Cruises. "It's a special evening that is all about wishes and visions," continued Bauer.

Singer Marc Terenzi (45) and presenter Verena Kerth (42) appeared to be perfectly happy because they were radiant, relaxed and in a good mood. The two recently made headlines with a fake wedding in Las Vegas. "I would never get married without my mom being present," reveals Kerth, who has a particularly close relationship with her mother and will be celebrating Christmas with her and Marc in the Austrian mountains. The wedding experience - even if it wasn't meant to be completely serious - was nevertheless "exciting, beautiful and a dream", says Kerth. They had joined the ranks of great legends such as Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Angelina Jolie and "it felt good!" assures Terenzi.

Ruth Moschner pulls the consumer plug

Presenter Ruth Moschner (47) shone with her glitter jacket, but above all with her good mood. "It's deep inside me," she says. "I nearly died at birth due to complications, but when everything was over, the first thing I did afterwards was smile at the doctor ..." However, Christmas does not put Moschner in a good mood. The presenter with Jewish ancestors decided 25 years ago to "simply pull the plug because of the high level of consumption. It was often just too much stress for me before the festivities." Since then, she has simply let Christmas come to her: "It relaxes me a lot!"

Actress Jenny Elvers (51), who attended the party in long red "Santa boots" and accompanied by her 22-year-old son Paul Jolig, revealed herself to be a "big, kitsch-loving" Christmas fan. Elvers appeared to be in good spirits and fit after her alcohol relapse in October: "If I wasn't feeling well, I wouldn't have come," she clarified. Elvers has already decorated her Hamburg home lavishly and reveals: "From Christmas sweaters to Christmas cookies to Christmas movies, we have the full program every year!" Everyone is also welcome on Christmas days: "I have an open house on that day." An idea she adopted from star hairdresser Udo Walz, who died in 2020, "to look after everyone who needs it at Christmas". After the holidays, Elvers is planning a beautiful, sunny cruise to the Caribbean on one of the AIDA ships.

TV star Marek Erhardt (54) also likes it warm and cozy at Christmas. For him, Christmas is "the best time of the year", when he also develops perfectionist traits. "Last year, I had three trees on display at my house, just so I could choose the really best one," he laughs. A selected menu for all three holidays - fondue, goose, salmon - has already been organized. His two daughters will be there on Christmas Eve, as well as his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. The actor is still looking for a new love and takes it with humor: "For now, I'm sitting by the fireplace with a glass of red wine."

Prince Frédéric von Anhalt: Back to Germany from L.A. for Christmas

Prince Frédéric von Anhalt (80) was delighted with the snow and the Hotel Atlantic: "In Los Angeles, everything is fake - the artificial snow, the lighting. It looks good for a photo, but nothing more," he grumbles. That's why he celebrates Christmas in Germany: "Everything is real here! The tradition, the snow. And even the Christmas carols are played properly".

For presenter Nova Meierhenrich (49), Christmas is a double celebration, as the actress turns 50 on December 25. She will be celebrating with her three younger brothers, lots of nieces and nephews and her parents. She laughs: "I've already said: You can't let me down! We have to celebrate!" The enthusiastic camper, who also travels alone in her large van, mainly through Scandinavia, dreams of a winter vacation in Iceland: "I've already been out in a snowstorm at minus 20 degrees. No problem for me, I'm a child of nature." Seeing the Northern Lights at the North Cape is worth it, says Meierhenrich.

Model Markus Schenkenberg (55) is also heading north, celebrating with his son and his son's mother and family in his native Sweden. "In Sweden, Christmas is traditionally about ham, meatballs, herring and potatoes, with chocolate for dessert," explains Schenkenberg. After the holidays, he will head to Florida for filming and is also planning a road trip to Los Angeles on his motorcycle.

Whether Dubai or Miami - the main thing is sun

Former gymnast Magdalena Brzeska (45) is in Dubai for an international competition at the end of December and will be staying in the Arab metropolis over the Christmas period. The cosmopolitan athlete is spending the days in a hotel with friends and wants above all to "enjoy the sun".

"Not Dubai again," was the message for "Notruf Hafenkante" actress Rhea Harder-Vennewald (47). So after Christmas, the family of five will be heading to sunny Miami this time. Before that, however, they will celebrate Christmas Eve in a very traditional way with the whole family at their grandparents' home near Bielefeld - "with church and a long walk through the woods. And then waiting for presents until Grandpa rings ..."

Actress Claudia Rieschel (73) came with her friend and colleague Simone Rethel-Heesters (74). Rieschel is planning a trip to Brazil this year, where she is supporting the charitable project "Costura", which creates jobs for women through sewing. Rethel-Heesters, wife of Johannes Heesters (1903-2011), is celebrating another "very noisy Christmas with her family and four generations. We are a very spirited family." There is only one minute of silence at Christmas - but it is very deliberate: "We burn sparklers together and silently remember the deceased in the family."

To fulfill the last wishes of the seriously ill, there was an art auction at "Movie meets Media" for the "Aktion Wünschewagen" charity with works by Udo Lindenberg (77) and Otto Waalkes (75), among others, which raised 14,000 euros. Afterwards, the party continued into the early hours in the ballroom for a good cause. On stage, "Voice of Germany" singer Michael Schulte (33) and star DJ Kai Schwarz provided good sound.
