What Jungle Legends Need to Be Prepared For

Sad that the Olympic Games are over? Don't worry, it continues seamlessly at the top level. After all, it's called "I'm a Star - Showdown of the Jungle Legends" for the first time this week on RTL+ and RTL. The Allstars season of the jungle camp promises some innovations.

We'll still wake up a few more times ... then the jungle will call. And that's even in the middle of summer! Because Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen will present a special edition of the jungle camp for the first time on RTL+ (and also on RTL from August 16th) with the motto "I'm a Star - Showdown of the Jungle Legends".

The Allstars season awaits with a total of 13 candidates, all of whom have already participated in a regular edition of the RTL hit show. But they have to prepare for some changes in the format concept.

This starts with the location of their jungle adventure: The Allstars season will not take place in Australia, but in South Africa. Although the reality show has moved there once before - when Australia withdrew in 2022 due to possible corona travel restrictions - this is the first time it has happened.

"Wholly new dynamics"

There is also a significant difference in the prize money, as the viewers will not decide who can win 100,000 euros in the end. Because the Allstars edition will not be broadcast live on TV, but has been recorded in advance.

On RTL+, viewers can watch the current episode one day earlier than on RTL. There, the show will run at prime time at 8:15 PM.

Even though the audience has no influence on who has to face the jungle trial or leave the camp, there should be no lack of excitement. "A lot will be decided in trials and within the team. I think that creates a whole new dynamic," explains Sonja Zietlow in an RTL interview. "You no longer have the excuse that the viewer from the outside decided something and 'I'm not really to blame and I can't really influence it'," adds Jan Köppen. "But the people in the camp can then look each other in the eye at the end and have to say: Why did you say that I should do this or go now?" That would be exciting on a different level, says the moderator.

The Rules are the Rules? No way

When it comes to peculiarities in the Allstars season, Zietlow already lets the cat out of the bag: "For example, if you don't win a trial, you have to go home. That can happen. It simply has consequences what happens within the team." Apart from that, however, Marc Terenzis famous saying "The Rules are the Rules" does not apply. In the jungle camp special edition, there are no fixed rules that the candidates have to follow to avoid punishment.

Due to the new broadcasting format, Zietlow and her colleague Jan Köppen's work on the reality show will also change, she reports. "We're not live, which means we don't have to do a live show, we don't have to work nights and all day." So the proven duo should be well-rested for their moderation.

Even though the Allstars season of the jungle camp is not live, viewers can still catch the current episode one day earlier on RTL+ at 8:15 PM. The absence of live broadcasting and viewer influences creates new dynamics within the camp, as the candidates must face the consequences of their actions without blaming external factors.

Despite the transition to a recorded format, Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen will have more time to prepare for their moderation duties, as they no longer need to work nights and day-long live shows.
