Wagenknecht faction advocates for East German representation

Sahra Wagenknecht's political alliance aspires to enter the Saxony government post-election. Their proposed agenda includes establishing quotas for East Germans in the civil sector and launching an inquiry into the coronavirus pandemic. They seek to interrogate renowned virologist Christian Drosten.

In an attempt to gain momentum during the Saxony state election, the Left Party (BSW) has planned a set of measures. These include quotas for East Germans in civil service positions and a hard stance on immigration. Additionally, the BSW is advocating for the formation of a coronavirus investigation committee. This information stems from a leaked draft election manifesto, per a "Der Spiegel" report. The plan is confirmed to be deliberated at a forthcoming Dresden party gathering.

If elected, the BSW anticipates seizing at least two seats in the Saxony legislature. In her introduction, Wagenknecht asserts the potential for governing change. "The likelihood of us influencing the government in Saxony and effecting genuine reform is genuinely tangible," she pens. "Continuation of the current parties in Saxony would be averted by a strong Left Party."

Based on the Spiegel article, Saxony party chiefs Sabine Zimmermann and Jörg Scheibe are slated for the first two positions on the candidate shortlist.

The BSW also lobbies for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. They vehemently oppose sending Saxony soldiers to NATO's eastern frontlines. Additionally, they deem financing for armament businesses a non-starter.

Regarding media fees, the BSW severely objects to increasing them. In terms of examining the pandemic's failings, the Left Party wants a Saxony-based coronavirus investigation committee. Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach from SPD and Charité virologist Christian Drosten are earmarked for questioning by this committee.

Lastly, BSW favors mandatory language tests for all Saxony children aged three and above. Should these screenings uncover linguistic deficits, these youngsters would be compelled to attend daycare programs. In healthcare policy, the Left Party supports preserving all hospitals in Saxony.
