During a disturbance at Solingen's 650th anniversary celebration, there were fatalities and injuries in the evening. Law enforcement sources suggest that a knife could be the weapon involved. The authorities have brought in a massive response, with helicopters in the air. No arrests have been made yet.

Law enforcement officers are present on the scene, armed, ensuring the safety of the area. Barriers are set up across the city. Screens have been put up. The incident occurred at the Fronhof - a market square in Solingen's city center, which also featured a live music stage.

Update: Nine individuals severely injured

As reported by "Solinger Tageblatt", the authorities have advised citizens to vacate the city center. The festivities have momentarily paused. Wailing sirens can be heard throughout the area. One of the organizers, Philipp Müller, reportedly announced on stage that emergency services are fighting to save the lives of nine individuals. The crowd reportedly exited the square peacefully and calmly.

The "Celebration of Diversity" event commenced on Friday to celebrate Solingen's 650th anniversary and was set to continue until Sunday. The bulletin declared, "Solingen Mitte will become the main festival area: From Neumarkt via Fronhof to Mühlenplatz, there will be celebrations." Attendees were promised a lineup of music, comedy, acrobatics, arts and crafts, children's activities, and more.

The knife, suspected to be a weapon of crime, could potentially be linked to the fatalities and injuries during the disturbance. In light of the severe injuries, the organizer on stage informed the crowd that emergency services are struggling to save nine lives.
