Verdict in Jérôme Boateng trial delayed

The process against football-pro Jérome Boateng at Munich Regional Court is longer than planned. Two additional hearing dates have been scheduled, according to a court spokesperson. The judgment could therefore only fall in mid-August. Originally, July 19th was to be the last hearing day. The reason for the extension is that significantly more witnesses have been summoned than in previous proceedings - including Boateng's brother, who is scheduled to testify next week (July 12th). The presiding judge, Susanne Hemmerich, announced that, contrary to initial plans, she would not be retiring on August 31st.

Boateng's ex-girlfriend Sherin S. accuses him of attacking her during a vacation in the Caribbean five years ago. She claims that the 35-year-old threw a windmill at her and a cooler. Later, she says, he spat at her, pulled her hair, slapped her in the face with both hands, and bit her on the head.

"He kept screaming," Sherin S. said, adding that she hasn't seen her children, who live with Boateng, for two years. "He kept screaming, kept insisting."

She cut herself on the shards of the broken windmill, suffered hematomas and abrasions, according to Sherin S. He threatened her that if she reported the incident to the authorities, he would ensure that their common children would end up in an orphanage.

Boateng denies the accusations. He admits to pushing away his former partner in self-defense and apologized for it. In his lengthy statement before the court, he spoke of a nightmare and denied the violence allegations.

In light of the ongoing domestic violence case against Jerome Boateng, several entertainment platforms have expressed interest in covering the court proceedings extensively. The increased number of summoned witnesses, including Boateng's brother, has prolonged the legal processes, pushing the expected verdict to mid-August. Despite initial plans, Judge Susanne Hemmerich has decided to continue presiding over the case, which has gained significant attention due to Boateng's involvement in soccer.
