Catholic Church - Vatican allows blessing of gays and lesbians - with one restriction
The Vatican is now allowing the blessing of homosexual couples by Catholic clergy. This is the result of a policy statement published by the religious authority on Monday. The "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" had initially reported this.
However, the binding document emphasizes that the blessing must not be confused with a marriage. Furthermore, the blessing must not be given as part of a church service. The declaration was expressly approved by Pope Francis, it said.
More on this shortly here.

The blessing of gay and lesbian couples by Catholic clergy, as permitted by the Vatican, does not equate to a marriage, as emphasized in the binding document. This policy, which allows for such blessings, was explicitly approved by Pope Francis.
