Vanessa Hudgens confirms wedding
The rumor mill has been churning for days, but now it's official: Vanessa Hudgens married her boyfriend Cole Tucker quietly and secretly in Mexico. To keep the ceremony as private as possible, she even took the guests' cell phones away, the 34-year-old reveals.
From a purely visual point of view, Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker look a bit like Beauty and the Beast. But the former "High School Musical" actress seems to have found the love of her life in the professional baseball player. After all, she has now said yes to him after around two and a half years of dating.
Rumors of a secret wedding between the two have been doing the rounds in recent days. They were fueled by a photo that circulated on social media. In the picture, Hudgens could be seen in a white dress on a beach. A man was standing next to her, but it was not Tucker.
Another clue was an Instagram story by Hudgens' ex-movie colleague Monique Coleman with a video from Tulum in Mexico. 'Last morning in paradise', it read. Some observers then speculated that it could have been the location of the wedding.
"I almost fell over"
And they were right: Hudgens now confirms this in an interview with Vogue magazine about the ceremony in which she and Tucker tied the knot last Saturday. When she saw her now husband standing at the altar, it was "the most emotional moment of my life", the 34-year-old reveals. "I almost fell over when I saw Cole," says Hudgens. She had to take a deep breath and force herself to keep walking, "because I could have fallen on the floor".
The actress and singer reveals that she and Tucker then exchanged vows in front of around 100 family members, friends and girlfriends with self-written vows in the open air. "We moved around a lot," says Hudgens, describing the celebrations that followed the actual wedding ceremony. A dinner under the trees was followed by a party with a live band, before the celebration ended with pizza and grilled cheese.
"It was the most magical weekend of my life," says Hudgens in the "Vogue" interview. "I'm so grateful that we kept the wedding private. It also helped that I took everyone's cell phones away," the newlywed continues. The magazine also published a whole series of photos that give an impression of the ceremony and the bride and groom's wedding outfits.
Met at yoga
Hudgens and Tucker had been engaged since February. The 27-year-old proposed to her in Paris. In May, Hudgens spoke on Drew Barrymore's talk show about the difficulty of finding a suitable location for a wedding reception. She finally celebrated her bachelorette party at the end of October.
The couple met at the beginning of 2021 via Zoom - during a virtual yoga session. In the past, Hudgens has had two longer relationships with fellow actors. She was initially in a relationship with her "High School Musical" partner Zac Efron for several years. From 2011 to 2020, however, "Elvis" actor Austin Butler was the man at her side.
