USA - US Republicans on impeachment investigation against Biden
The Republicans in the US House of Representatives are pressing ahead with investigations into possible impeachment proceedings against US President Joe Biden. The chamber voted with the majority of Republicans to continue with the investigation and "formalize" it. This is a technical step that the Republicans hope will give them more legal leverage in their investigations. It does not open impeachment proceedings against the President.
Some Republicans accuse the Democrat Biden of having abused his public office for the financial benefit of his family. However, they have not yet presented any clear evidence of serious misconduct. It is questionable whether impeachment proceedings will actually be initiated at the end of the investigation.
