US-Promises welcome Joe Biden's departure

Joe Biden announces withdrawal from US Presidential campaign race. Many American celebrities react on social media.

On Sunday, Joe Biden announced on social media that he would not be running for the US Presidency again due to increasing criticism. This news not only made waves in the political world but also prompted reactions from many American celebrities. Mostly expressing gratitude and relief.

"Joe Biden will go down in history as a man who accomplished great things in his four-year tenure. We should be grateful that he preserved our democracy", tweeted the one-year younger Hollywood icon Barbra Streisand after Biden's withdrawal.

Similar words were found from "Star Wars" star Mark Hamill. "Joe Biden has achieved more than any other president in our lifetime. He has returned honesty, decency, and integrity to the office after four years of lies, crimes, scandals, and chaos", he wrote on X.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis thanked Biden on her Instagram account for his "leadership, grace under pressure, strength, and resistance". "Thank you, Mr. President, for leading with kindness, change, and class!", also commented Curtis' colleague Melissa Joan Hart.

"Joe Biden steps down to clear the way for another Democrat who can become President, because there is nothing more important for our country than defeating Donald Trump at the ballot box", explained Oscar-winner Robert De Niro in a statement to US Magazine "TMZ".

Biden's withdrawal also made a big splash in the music industry. Cher wrote on X, that she had always supported the President, "the man I love, since we met in 2008".

It pained her not to believe in his re-election: "It's time to pass the baton", she welcomed his decision not to run again.

Support for Kamala Harris

Singer John Legend wrote on Instagram, that Biden deserved re-election more than anyone but "the time and age come for us all" and expressed his support for Vice-President Kamala Harris, who could now run for the US Presidency on behalf of the Democrats.

Biden's withdrawal showed "patriotism", according to the Grammy-winner, because he had made the decision "for the good of the country".

Rapper Cardi B celebrated herself for having already suggested Harris as a better candidate in June. Ariana Grande shared Biden's post endorsing Harris for the Presidential candidacy on her Instagram story and added a link to register for the November election.

In light of Joe Biden's announcement, numerous celebrities expressed their gratitude and relief on social media. Hollywood icon Barbra Streisand praised Biden for preserving democracy during his tenure. Similarly, "Star Wars" star Mark Hamill commended Biden's achievements and return of decency to the office.

The withdrawal also prompted support for Vice President Kamala Harris to run for the US Presidency. John Legend, expressing his support on Instagram, suggested that it was time for Harris to represent the Democrats, following Biden's decision. Rapper Cardi B celebrated her earlier suggestion of Harris as a better candidate, while Ariana Grande endorsed Harris' presidential candidacy on her Instagram story.
