Ukraine alleges it has sunk Russian vessels near Crimea.
At night, it is reported that Ukraine has had some success in their attacks on Crimea's territory. Simultaneously, Moscow shares that they've intercepted several ATACMS missiles and drones. Kyiv has been recently targeting the Crimean peninsula frequently.
Russian armed forces have allegedly repelled these attacks using American missiles and drones in the Black and Azov Seas. The Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow stated that they have downed eight US ATACMS missiles in the Azov Sea. Additionally, the authorities in Kerch reported two damaged ferries, but the exact number of missiles and drones targeted is unknown. Ukraine also claimed successful hits.
The Ukrainian military intelligence service reported successful attacks using MaguraV5 kamikaze drones. These are believed to have hit two "tuna boats" of the KS-701 type, according to preliminary findings. A military intelligence source informed the "Kyiv Post" that the Russians used these boats for their operations.
A video publicly released shows a MaguraV5 drone in broad daylight, with a helicopter flying overhead. The video then displays nighttime shots of air defense firing, thought to be from Russian-occupied Crimea. At the end, a MaguraV5 approaches and hits one of the patrol boats, which are assumed to be sunk since they are filled with explosives.
"Ukraine exerts pressure on Crimea"
According to military expert Nico Lange on X platform, "Ukraine sank two Russian ships near the Kerch Bridge last night and damaged a Russian railway line leading to the bridge." Although Ukraine can only slow down the enemy in Donbass and Kharkiv at present, they are still exerting pressure on Crimea.
Kiev's recent focus has been on Crimea's air defense systems. There is speculation that a new attack on the symbolically significant bridge could be approaching, as it's also used for military logistics. Targeting air defense systems could be a prelude to a major assault.
Ukraine's goal is to free Crimea from Russian invaders. However, the island is heavily fortified to shield it from potential attacks. Recently, analyst Brady Africk shared satellite images demonstrating that Russia has built barriers in the water near the Crimean Bridge to protect it against kamikaze drones like MaguraV5.
