Two individuals, including a law enforcement officer, were murdered in a shooting occurrence in southern Arizona.
Around 2 a.m. local time, cops responded to a commotion at a residence in Gila River Indian Community, a tribal reservation 35 miles southeast of Phoenix. The fracas, with an estimate of a crowd that was large, resulted in multiple shots being discharged. Police reported injuries to a couple of Gila River policemen and four more individuals.
The tragic consequence was the death of two people amongst those wounded – Officer Joshua Briese and an unidentified victim. Meanwhile, one of the officers injured remains in serious but stable condition at the hospital, while the other three victims are also receiving treatment.
Officer Briese, only with the department for less than a year, was undergoing on-the-job training at the time of the incident.
Gila River Police Department expressed their condolences through their Facebook page, reducing the intensity by stating "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these officers, and everyone touched by this terrible event."
The department is cooperating with the FBI for ongoing investigations.
Residing within the expanses of this community is a population of 14,000, consisting mainly of Pima and Maricopa tribes.
