Mysterious Criminal Case - Two dead hotel guests in Mainz pose a riddle for the police

In a hotel in Mainz, there were two deceased individuals. According to the police, one was a man and the other a woman. One of the victims was already dead when they were discovered in the morning, while the second victim succumbed to their severe injuries despite revival efforts at the hotel.

Background and Course of the Crime in Mainz Still Unclear

The background of the crime is still unclear. The police initially remained silent on the nature of the fatal injuries and whether the two deceased individuals knew each other. As to whether one or more perpetrators were being sought, the investigators remained tight-lipped. However, there was no danger to uninvolved persons in the entire Mainz city area, according to a police spokesperson.

Following the discovery of the two victims around 10 am, a Special Operations Command (SEK) searched the five-story building in the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital. The surrounding street was cordoned off. Police and ambulance vehicles were on site. The forensic team was extensively involved in the investigation. Approximately 130 guests were in the hotel at the time of the incident.

Interrogation of Hotel Guests and Staff

In addition to the examination of traces by specialists, the interrogation of many hotel guests, bystanders, and hotel staff was ongoing, reported the spokesperson. This would take some time. Details on the course of the crime were therefore not expected before the coming week in coordination with the public prosecutor's office. At the request of the public prosecutor, an autopsy of the two deceased persons was to be ordered, the investigators announced in the early evening.

The police are yet to reveal if the deceased individuals in the Mainz hotel case had any known connections to each other. Despite the ongoing investigation, there's no indication of an imminent threat to the safety of the city's residents as stated by the police spokesperson.
