Two consecutive days, a Boeing plane was mandated to return.

Boeing planes are enduring recurring malfunctions these days. A case in point is a plane in Turkey that suffered a hull collision. Another incident involved a burst tire. Furthermore, planes have had to abort flights due to odd smells. And now, a plane experienced an urgent landing in Frankfurt.

A Boeing aircraft operated by airline TUIfly had to return to Frankfurt twice in two days following take-offs. On Thursday, a 737-800 Boeing aircraft heading to Gran Canaria from Frankfurt performed an emergency landing in Frankfurt. A representative from Fraport AG confirmed this on Friday night. They mentioned that the aircraft had been on its way to Gran Canaria. She declined to divulge the reason for the emergency landing and instead pointed to TUIfly for more information. As is standard practice in cases of potential technical issues, the fire department was called to the airport.

On the same day, this same aircraft had also turned back to Frankfurt from Heraklion, Greece. It's undecided whether this was also an emergency landing. The Fraport AG spokesperson deferred to TUIfly for details. TUIfly was prompted to provide a statement.

Recent occurrences of Boeing plane malfunctions include a 767 FedEx plane colliding with its fuselage upon landing in Istanbul. A Boeing that launched from Germany with 190 passengers landed in Alanya, Turkey safely on its nose landing gear due to a shattered front tire.

These incidents are part of an ongoing crisis at Boeing. The crisis has persisted since the crashes of two Boeing 737 Max jets with 346 casualties over five years ago. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) took action when a fuselage piece dislodged from a practically new 737-9 Max on an Alaska Airlines flight in early 2025. Aircraft were initially prohibited from taking off until a technical examination was conducted. The authority is also investigating the production and monitoring processes.
