TUI records near-record demand for Majorca trips
The tourism giant TUI is sensing near-record demand for Mallorca for the main holiday season in mid-2024. The Spanish Balearic island leads the list of favorite destinations on the medium-haul route, followed by Antalya in Turkey, said TUI Germany boss Stefan Baumert on Thursday in Berlin. "Majorca is currently miles ahead in terms of bookings, and we expect demand to be higher than ever this summer." Turkey is also continuing to pick up speed. "We want to exceed the one million guest mark from Germany for the first time," Baumert announced at the presentation of the 2024 summer program.
Overall, the number of early bookings is rising again and is a quarter higher than the previous summer. There is a double-digit increase in bookings for the current winter season. "We expect another significant increase in bookings at the end of December and beginning of January," emphasized Baumert. Greece is also popular with customers and is therefore heading for a record. The islands of Crete, Rhodes and Kos are in greater demand than ever before and ranked third to fifth among holidaymakers. "We are expecting even greater demand next summer and are continuing to expand our portfolio," said Baumert. The USA remained stable at the top of the list of the most popular long-haul destinations - ahead of the Maldives, Thailand, Canada and Mauritius.
