Trial commences for slain 14-year-old, defendant partially confesses.
A 21-year-old man in Kassel stands trial for the death of a 14-year-old girl in Bad Emstal. He's also accused of assaulting her body after the murder. During the trial, the defendant confessed to strangling the young girl following an argument. He also explained the reason behind his actions.
Months after the suspected murder of a teenage girl in Bad Emstal, located in northern Hesse, the court case against a 21-year-old acquaintance of the victim started at Kassel District Court. At the commencement of the trial, the accused admitted to choking the 14-year-old unconscious after arguing with her. He then disrobed her upper body and recorded it.
According to the defendant, he had been kidnapped and sexually abused several months before the crime. He'd planned to kill the kidnapper, but his 14-year-old friend was aware of the situation. He intended to extort the girl "so she wouldn't report it to the police when she regained consciousness."
Initially, the accused denied the intention to kill the girl during the trial's opening. However, the public prosecutor's office alleges that he strangled the schoolgirl to feed his sexual desires. Additionally, they accuse him of creating an atmosphere conducive to another crime by disturbing her peace after her death. It's claimed that he touched the corpse in a sexually provocative manner following the crime.
The 14-year-old girl's body was discovered on September 28th, 2021, at the edge of a country lane in Bad Emstal, in the district of Kassel. She'd been missing since the previous day. The accused was arrested on suspicion of murder on September 29th, 2021, just a day after the girl was discovered. The German national has been in custody since then. Since he was 20 years old at the time of the crime, a youth chamber of the Kassel Regional Court is handling the case. The court has scheduled two additional hearings for May 27th and 29th.
