Travis Barker unveils fitness-oriented wellness journey derived from his recuperation post-2008 fatal aircraft accident.

Every Tuesday, Travis Barker, the drummer from Blink-182, kicks off his new health project – Hit the Pavement with Trav – following his recovery from a terrible incident in 2008. This project will see events happening in both New York and Los Angeles before the band's concerts in these cities.

In his statement, Travis shared his journey from being burnt which made up over 70% of his body. Doctors predicted that he might never be able to walk or drum again. But he was determined to prove them wrong, even himself. His healing process started with brief walks, which he turned into daily short runs. Last year, he ran his first half marathon and participated in a few 5K races.

He admitted that he found a sense of belonging in the running community, and it's this camaraderie that inspired Hit the Pavement with Trav.

In 2008, Barker and another passenger, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, suffered severe injuries when their charter jet crashed upon takeoff in South Carolina. Regrettably, four other passengers on board, including Barker's security, his assistant, and both pilots, lost their lives in the accident.

Thirteen years on, Barker tackled the skies again for the first time with his wife Kourtney Kardashian.

On Tuesday, Travis officially launched Hit the Pavement with Trav – a tribute to the iconic film “Forrest Gump” – by sharing a video on his Instagram account where he's seen reenacting the famous "run, Forrest, run!" scene from the 1994 movie featuring Tom Hanks.

The video, directed by Travis' frequent collaborator Brandon Dermer, also features Kardashian playing the character Jenny Curran, who was portrayed by Robin Wright in the original movie.

Each coast will offer a morning run with Travis, providing a 360-degrees holistic approach to health, wellness, and self-discovery, as per the news release. The event will also include fitness classes, mindfulness workshops, and experiential activations from top brands.
