Tom Cruise on "Mission: Olympossible"
Los Angeles, set to host the 2028 Olympics, aims to make the Olympic handover Hollywood-worthy. Actor Tom Cruise is reportedly preparing an "epic" stunt for the closing ceremony in Paris.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics was already spectacular and celebrated worldwide. Actor Tom Cruise seems to want to top that and is said to have prepared a spectacular stunt for the closing ceremony in the French capital. Several US media outlets report that the "Mission: Impossible" star will play a significant role in the ceremony on August 11.
In 2028, the Summer Games will take place in Los Angeles. According to the US portal "TMZ", Cruise has been training for months for a parachute jump, with which he wants to officially hand over the Games to the next host city. The actor, known for performing most of his stunts himself, is said to plan to swing from the roof of the Stade de France onto the stadium's field, carrying the Olympic flag. A two-minute pre-recorded clip will then be shown in the TV broadcast of the Olympic closing ceremony, in which Cruise brings the flag from France to Los Angeles by plane. He is then said to jump out of the plane and land on the famous Hollywood sign in the mountains above L.A. with the flag.
"TMZ" shared several photos of the filming, which is said to have taken place in March 2024. According to the site, several Olympic athletes will also be seen in the clip and help Cruise transport the flag from Paris to Los Angeles.
Tom Cruise is a big Olympic fan
The idea for the stunt is said to have come from the actor himself and was presented to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by him. Tom Cruise is a big fan of the Olympic Games and was one of the bearers of the Olympic flame in 2004 before the Games in Athens. He is also present at this year's Games: On July 26, he attended the opening ceremony and has since been sitting in the audience at several competitions, including gymnastics and swimming.
The report about Tom Cruise's alleged stunt has not yet been officially confirmed. The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris will take place on August 11 and will be broadcast live in Germany on ZDF and Eurosport.
Upon hearing about Tom Cruise's planned stunt for the Paris Olympics closing ceremony, many spectators are excited to witness his extraordinary performance. Given his history as an Olympic flame bearer in 2004 and his avid support for the Games, it's no surprise that Tom Cruise is set to elevate the event once again.
