Timothee Chalamet looked like Bob Dylan
Timothée Chalamet plays the role of young Bob Dylan in the film "A Complete Unknown." The first trailer of the biopic showcases Chalamet's convincing musical mastery of this role. In it, Chalamet takes on a Dylan classic.
Since early July, the filming of the biopic "A Complete Unknown," in which Timothée Chalamet steps into the role of music legend Bob Dylan, has been completed. The film is set to release in US cinemas in December. The production company Searchlight Pictures has now released the first trailer, which Chalamet shared on Instagram.
The clip, which is approximately two minutes long, shows Edward Norton in the role of the musician Pete Seeger introducing young Bob Dylan to the audience. Chalamet enters the stage in his role and performs the Dylan hit "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" from 1962. The 28-year-old "Dune" star sings himself - and comes very close to Dylan's typically nasal singing voice.
The biopic "A Complete Unknown" is based on Elijah Wald's book "Dylan Goes Electric! Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties" from 2015. The story revolves around the young Bob Dylan, who starts his music career in New York during the 1960s and becomes a cultural sensation. The screenplay is by Jay Cocks, and James Mangold directs. Dylan, who is 83 years old today, is involved in the production. Mangold directed the award-winning film "Walk the Line" about the life of country singer Johnny Cash in 2005.
The resemblance is striking
Before the trailer was released, paparazzi photos from the shoot in New York had already circulated, showing how remarkably similar Timothée Chalamet looks to Bob Dylan with disheveled hair and sunglasses. The first vocal test in the trailer now confirms that he also approaches the original musically.
Chalamet was nominated for an Oscar for the lead role in the romantic drama "Call Me By Your Name" in 2018. Most recently, he filmed "Dune: Part Two" and demonstrated his musical talent in the musical comedy "Wonka."
The biopic, set to hit Hollywood cinemas in December, features Timothée Chalamet's impressive portrayal of music legend Bob Dylan, showcasing his talent in both singing and acting, specifically with Dylan's hit "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." The Music industry has been abuzz with the striking resemblance of Chalamet to Dylan during filming, emphasized by his nasal singing tone.
