Popstar Justin Timberlake pleads not guilty to DUI charges in a U.S. court. The 43-year-old, who has upcoming shows in Antwerp, Belgium this weekend, appeared via video and spoke little, according to U.S. media reports.

The court has temporarily revoked Timberlake's driving privileges in New York state, it was reported. Judge Carl Irace also admonished Timberlake's lawyer for previous statements made to the press and threatened consequences.

A hearing next week, at which Timberlake's attendance is not expected, will decide the next steps in the process.

Timberlake was arrested and charged with DUI in Sag Harbor, about 150 kilometers east of New York City, in mid-June.

According to a police report, he failed to stop at a stop sign. An officer stated in a court document that Timberlake's breath smelled strongly of alcohol and that he appeared unsteady on his feet.

Timberlake's mugshot went viral

After spending a night in custody, Timberlake was released. The "mugshot" of the global star looking somberly into the camera, released by police, spread virally on the internet.

The 43-year-old, who is married to actress Jessica Biel and has two children, is currently on tour with a new album.

As part of his ongoing world tour, the multi-Grammy winner ("Cry Me a River", "What Goes Around... Comes Around") is scheduled to perform in Munich, Cologne, and Hamburg at the end of August and beginning of September.

The DUI charges against Timberlake have brought unwanted attention to his ongoing world tour. Despite this setback, crime-related allegations may negatively impact his future concert bookings.
