Timberlake Speaks Out for the First Time Following Arrest
Following a traffic stop incident, renowned singer Justin Timberlake found himself in handcuffs, facing charges of driving under the influence. The 43-year-old celebrity initially kept quiet through his legal representation, but during a gig in Chicago, he decided to break his silence.
After the arrest in the Hamptons, Justin Timberlake carried on with his tour. On a Friday evening, he graced the stage at the United Center in Chicago and discussed the buzzing incident. The singer was taken into custody by the police on a Tuesday due to allegations of drunk driving and endangering others.
"It's been a rough week," Timberlake confessed to 'People,' as quoted in a report. At his Chicago concert, he also mentioned during a brief speech before "Selfish," "I know it's sometimes hard to love me, but you guys keep loving me and I love you back."
According to a statement from the Sag Harbor Police Department, Timberlake "was spotted driving a 2025 BMW on Madison Street heading south, failing to stop at a properly positioned stop sign and failing to stay within his lane." During a traffic pullover by an officer, it was identified that the Popstar "was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated state." He was then "taken into custody and held overnight for morning proceedings."
As reported by various US media outlets, the arrest report indicates that Timberlake told the authorities, "I had a Martini and followed my friends home." On the following day, his attorney Edward Burke Jr. released a statement, proclaiming that he would "vigorously contest these charges."
The singer has been on tour since April, promoting his sixth studio album "Everything I Thought It Was" which he released on March 15. The last show before his arrest was in Miami. After two nights in Chicago, his tour will head to Madison Square Garden in New York City. Until July 9, he has more American shows lined up. The European tour is rumored to commence on July 26 in Krakow, Poland, on the same day as a court hearing is scheduled. As per 'People,' the hearing will be virtual, enabling Timberlake to attend his planned performances. His attorney will represent him in person.
