For months, the industry talked about the sonny boy's "Manta Manta" film because there had been allegations about set conditions. Now his new comedy is being released in German cinemas and the actor himself says: "The shooting conditions were horrendous:"

When asked whether the timing of his new comedy was overshadowed by the accusations at the time, he replied: "For me personally, the movie is not overshadowed by that. Above all, I'm happy that it's finally coming to theaters."

The movie is about this: Felix (Schweiger) and Arthur (Michael Maertens) have been best friends since childhood. Yet they are completely different types. Arthur is a professionally successful father who only speaks English with his daughter Julie (played by Til Schweiger's daughter Emma) as a matter of principle. You could also describe him as a man of principle. Someone who just likes to keep things tidy at home and otherwise seems a bit quirky. Felix regularly bursts into his home, opens a bottle of alcohol and puts his feet up on the table. He is a free spirit and a bon vivant - and seems chaotic.

New Schweiger film suitable for the Advent season

"The shooting conditions were horrendous because an icy storm was blowing, so we had to shoot the dialog somewhere else because the sound was unusable," Schweiger told the German Press Agency about the unusual location in the mountains. "Then it started to snow, which was actually great because I love movies set in the snow. But so much snow came down overnight that we couldn't get up the mountain because we only had one snowcat," added the 59-year-old.

Schweiger - a heavyweight in the German film industry - not only played one of the two main characters. He was also co-producer and director. The comedy "Das Beste kommt noch!", presented by Constantin Film, is an adaptation of a French story. The comedy, which aims to appeal to the big emotions, fits into the Advent season. This is probably why Constantin Film only presented it now, even though it was shot before the latest Schweiger film "Manta Manta - Zwoter Teil".

After the scandals - Til Schweiger is filming again

In recent months, there has been a debate in the film and media industry about the "Manta" film. In a report, "Der Spiegel" picked up on allegations about the set conditions there. Constantin Film initiated an investigation by an external law firm, which presented mixed results. Schweiger then spoke at length in an interview with "Stern" in October. Among other things, he said: "I don't want anyone to be afraid of me." The 59-year-old star also spoke about his alcohol problems and explained that he was in therapy.

"I'm at peace with myself and I can look in the mirror in the morning, despite the mistakes I've made and for which I've taken responsibility. Not everyone does that either," Schweiger told the German Press Agency. The 59-year-old, who is one of the best-known actors and directors in Germany, added: "I have often asked myself how these people can look in the mirror. There's not really much left of the accusations made in Der Spiegel against the production and especially against me, so I'm actually only looking ahead, as always."

In any case, Schweiger is not letting the scandals or his own problems slow him down. He is currently developing two scripts at the same time, but he can't yet say when they will be finished. In addition, he will soon be filming again and slipping into a special role. "The next movie I'm in is the new Guy Ritchie film "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare", in which I play a Nazi for the first time, even though I swore I'd never do it. But I just couldn't resist him and it was great. He is also developing two scripts at the same time - "I can't say when they will be finished yet, but I have every intention of realizing them."
