"RTL high diving" - Thorsten Legat and son Nico jump with
On Friday, January 12, 2024, RTL will show a new edition of the sporty celebrity show "RTL Turmspringen" (also on RTL+). A few names were already known, but now the broadcaster has announced all the celebrity participants. One name stands out in particular: Thorsten Legat (55) will return to the show after only being able to watch his fellow contestants from the edge of the pool in 2022. The ex-footballer had to have a testicle removed after a training accident.
During a training jump from the three-meter board, Legat accidentally landed on the water and tore open a testicle. When the TV show aired on June 3, 2022, he was only there as a guest. He is now back in the water training hard for his new attempt, as he reveals in an Instagram story. In it, he shows himself in front of the indoor swimming pool in Cologne - and not alone. His son Nico Legat (25) is also training with him and will be taking part in theRTL high dive. "Dad and I have been working hard for a long time," he reveals to his father's community. "It's really intense what we've done here today," explains Thorsten Legat after training. However, he is not allowed to reveal any details as "everything is secret".
Successor on reality TV
Nico Legat already gained his first reality TV experience this year on "Temptation Island - Versuchung im Paradies". In the show, in which couples test their relationship, he cheated on his now former girlfriend Sarah Liebich in front of the camera. The two will be seen in the upcoming season of "Prominent getrennt".
There has also been speculation as to whether Nico Legat will enter the jungle camp and succeed his father. The former German footballer was a contestant on "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" in 2016 and came third in the tenth season. However, Nico Legat's appearance in the jungle has probably been canceled due to his participation in"high diving". An exact start date has not yet been set, but the 2023 jungle camp started on January 13.
These celebrities will also be seen in the individual and synchronized competitions on "RTL Turmspringen": former artistic gymnasts Philipp Boy and Fabian Hambüchen, reality stars Aurelia Lamprecht, Zico Banach, Marco Cerullo, Sam Dylan and Paco Herb, "Let's Dance" dancers Valentin Lusin and Mariia Maksina, the "Ninja Warriors" Benni Grams and Ada Theilken, the "Love Islanders" Jenny and Vanessa Grassl, the "Unter uns" actors Ben Heinrich and Valea Scalabrino, the "GNTM" models Kim Hnizdo and Jacky Wruck and curvy model Zoe Lätizia Flindris. Circus performer René Casselly will also be celebrating a comeback; he had to miss this year's show after bursting both of his eardrums during training.

In the upcoming edition of "RTL Turmspringen" on RTL+ and RTL, Throrsten Legat and his son Nico will participate in the "RTL high diving" event. Despite his past injury, Thorsten Legat is training diligently for his return, with Nico joining him. Nico Legat previously gained reality TV experience on "Temptation Island - Versuchung im Paradies". There have been speculations about his potential participation in the jungle camp, but his involvement in high diving might have prevented it. The show "RTL Turmspringen" will also feature other celebrities like former artistic gymnasts, reality stars, and TV personalities.
