This 'Game Night' is not fun!

German summer comedies can be good, but they often aren't. Current negative example: the film "Game Night". A group of friends get together for a pleasant evening and put the audience to sleep.

In 2018, the entertaining US action comedy "Game Night" with Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, who organize a game night, came to the cinemas. The plot, which some creatives in Germany might have considered reproducing in a modified form, scored with wit and absurd twists.

The result with the title "Game Night" is now available to watch on Netflix. It's indeed worrying what some of the filmmakers believe will entertain the audience. The ensemble film has almost no hilarious gags, the chemistry of the actors doesn't work, and the story is barely worth the effort. This "Game Night" is not funny!

For a detailed critique on "Game Night" from Ronny Rüsch and Axel Max, listen to the new episode of the ntv podcast "Oscars & Himbeeren". Also featured: the German thriller classic "23 - Nothing is what it seems", the film adaptation "A Whole Life", and the miniseries "Land of Women".

The success of the US comedy "Game Night" on Netflix, starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, showcases the diverse entertainment options outside of Hollywood. Despite this, the movie's lackluster humor and unconvincing plot have left many viewers disappointed.
