With new moderators - These TV annual reviews will be shown in 2023

Dramatic, emotional or enjoyable: 2023 was once again full of events in the world of celebrities, politics and sport. Some TV channels are taking this as an opportunity to show review programs again. Some of them are presented by new presenters this year.

"2023! People, images, emotions"

"2023! People, Pictures, Emotions" will be broadcast live on RTL from 8:15 p.m. on December 7. "stern TV" presenter Steffen Hallaschka (51) will present the channel's annual review for the first time, which will be shown on Thursdays instead of Sundays. "'Menschen, Bilder, Emotionen' is an absolute TV classic at the end of the year. I am delighted to be the host of this annual review. I have invited a group of celebrity friends with whom I would like to look back on their personal year," RTL quotes Steffen Hallaschka.

Among the guests are TV chef Tim Mälzer (52), drag queen Olivia Jones (54), reality TV star Evelyn Burdecki (35) and actor Til Schweiger (59). The Hamas attack on Israel and the German basketball summer fairytale will also be discussed. For a long time, Günther Jauch (67) shaped RTL's annual review. He hosted the show from 1996 to 2021, before Thomas Gottschalk (73) and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (52) took over last year.

"Markus Lanz - The year 2023"

On Wednesday, December 13 (8:15 p.m.), ZDF will be showing" Markus Lanz - The Year 2023". Presenter Markus Lanz (54) will look at the topics of the year with both celebrity and non-celebrity guests. The focus will be on people whose stories will shed light on events in society, politics, film, music and sport. The guests and topics will be introduced in short films.

"The satirical review of the year"

A satirical view of the year 2023 is offered by "Der satirische Jahresrückblick", which ZDF will be showing on Friday, December 15 (11:30 pm). According to the announcement, satirists Werner Doyé and Andreas Wiemers, known for their "Toll!" column in "frontal" magazine, will address questions such as: "When will Friedrich Merz finally get an appointment with the dentist? Will Hubert Aiwanger's schoolbag go to the House of History? What is the shortage of skilled workers doing to the mafia?"

"ARD review of the year"

The "ARD Jahresrückblick" will follow on December 19 (22:15) on Ersten. It will deal with the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, the traffic lights in Berlin and the climate stickers. But the hype surrounding "Barbie", the German world champion basketball team and the coronation of Charles III will also feature in the program. In the annual review, "tagesthemen" presenter Jessy Wellmer (44), ARD financial expert Markus Gürne (52), ARD meteorologist Karsten Schwanke (54) and celebrities will have their say.

"Gysi & Schmidt: The ntv review"

"Gysi und Schmidt: Der ntv Rückblick" will be shown on Thursday, December 21 (23:30 on ntv). Left-wing politician Gregor Gysi (75) and entertainer Harald Schmidt (66) will focus on the top issues of the past few months. These include, for example, the Middle East conflict and the war in Ukraine, the leaflet affair surrounding Hubert Aiwanger, the founding of the new Wagenknecht party, the ongoing crisis in German sport and the hype surrounding Taylor Swift.

"The SAT.1 review of the year with Jörg Pilawa"

Even after Christmas, broadcasters are still looking back on the year. "Unser 2023 - Der Jahresrückblick mit Jörg Pilawa" will be shown on Sat.1 on Friday, December 29 at 8:15 pm. In the show with Jörg Pilawa (58), four celebrity guests will present their highlight of the year, according to the announcement. Horst Lichter (61), Wigald Boning (56), Caroline Frier (40) and Elena Uhlig (48) will present their topic in an entertaining way. Pilawa will host the evening and test how well his celebrity guests have paid attention this year. Passenger (39) with his song "Let her go" and ESC star Michael Schulte (33) will provide music during the show.

"2023 - the quiz"

New assignment for Kai Pflaume (56): The presenter is taking over the annual review program "2023 - das Quiz" on Ersten. Frank Plasberg (66) has hosted the show for the past 15 years. The quiz team, however, remains the same: these four stars will once again compete against each other in this year's edition of the classic quiz show: fellow presenters Günther Jauch, Barbara Schöneberger (49) and Florian Silbereisen (42) as well as "Tatort" star Jan Josef Liefers (59). Jauch and Liefers have won the knowledge test about the past year four times so far, Schöneberger twice and Silbereisen was the year's champion once.

"In '2023 - the quiz', the focus is on the most important and emotional events of the year - the people with whom Germany laughed or cried, talked about or marveled at," promises the broadcaster. "2023 - das Quiz" will be broadcast one day before New Year's Eve on December 30 at 8:15 p.m. on Ersten.
