The United States is seemingly considering a new arms deal for Israel.

The American government is hesitant about arming Israel for a major offensive in Rafah, as revealed by President Biden last week. Yet there's a possibility that a detailed arsenal is being readied right now.

As per news sources, the United States is planning to provide Israel with a new arms shipment worth over a billion dollars (approximately 924 million euros). Biden's administration has reportedly informed Congress of this, based on accounts from unidentified sources at the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere. This package will allegedly contain tank ammunition, tactical vehicles, and mortar bombs. Additionally, the administration has initiated the congressional approval process, which is in its early stages, CNN noted.

The international community has been keenly monitoring U.S. military support for Israel. This is because the U.S. administration is withholding a delivery of heavy munitions due to Israel's military operations in Rafah, a densely populated location in southern Gaza. Last week, Biden warned Israel that their actions in the city, which houses internally displaced persons from other zones in Gaza, would result in repercussions for American weapons supplies. However, the White House later reaffirmed its commitment to Israel and clarified that only the paused delivery was being referred to.

"We will continue to provide military assistance," reiterated Jake Sullivan, Biden's security advisor, on a Monday briefing. The following day, when questioned about Israel's intervention in Rafah, Jean-Pierre, Biden's spokesperson, said, "Washington has been assured that it's a limited operation by the Israeli military. And so far, it doesn't resemble anything that appears to be a significant ground operation."
