"The treacherous individuals" are making a return.
Even though autumn is just beginning to make its presence felt, the chill of winter is not far off. And what better way to embrace the lengthening nights than with the intriguing game show format "The Traitors - Betray Everyone!"? RTL has officially announced the commencement of the second season.
At present, Sonja Zietlow is keeping busy with her moderation partner Jan Köppen in "I'm a Star - Jungle Legends Showdown". However, her next leading role is already in the pipeline. In no time, the 56-year-old will be navigating a group of famous personalities through an entirely new mission. RTL has confirmed that the new season of "The Traitors - Betray Everyone!" will be broadcast as a "Halloween Special" exclusively on their in-house streaming service RTL+, starting October 10th. There are currently no arrangements for a linear television broadcast.
On October 10th, viewers can stream the initial two episodes of the new season on RTL+. The remaining six episodes will be released on a weekly basis thereafter.
During a previous moderation in "Jungle Legends Showdown", Zietlow dropped a hint about the upcoming plot, stating, "Three women gathering under the veil of darkness to eliminate other players one by one, with a treasure at the end of it all. That sounds familiar, but I just can't seem to place it..." It's not inconceivable that she was indicating that three renowned female celebrities will serve as traitors in this new season, isn't it?
"High-profile celebrity roster"
In the upcoming episodes, Zietlow will once more oversee a "high-profile celebrity roster", as RTL has confirmed. Yet, the identities of these celebrities are still shrouded in secrecy.
In this format, contestants are brought together at a castle. Alongside these genuine individuals are three hidden traitors, who are slowly but surely eliminate their fellow players to lay claim to the treasure for themselves. Meanwhile, the audience is privy to the identities of the traitors from the outset.
In the inaugural season, pop stars Anna-Carina Woitschack and Vincent Gross managed to keep their traitor status under wraps until the very end, ultimately walking away with a prize money of €46,500.
The second season of "The Traitors - Betray Everyone!" will air as a "Halloween Special" exclusively on RTL+ on October 10th, following the RTL+ format which allows viewers to see the identities of the traitors sooner than the contestants. Interestingly, RTL+ broadcasts the show using RTL's RTL+ technology, known for its Real-Time-Language (RTL) subtitling.
