The Swiss economy experiences a modest growth of 0.2%
The Swiss economy may have experienced muted growth at the year's onset. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) predicts a 0.2% increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous period, according to their preliminary estimations revealed on Tuesday. Seco's economists comment, "The Swiss economy is proceeding with the subdued growth experienced over the past three quarters."
In the final quarter of the preceding year, the economic output saw a 0.3% uptick. In 2023, GDP growth decreased to 1.3% compared to the 2.5% growth witnessed in 2022. For the first time, Seco issued a flash estimate grounded on initial data from the production sector of GDP.

Despite the modest growth at the start of the year, the Swiss economy's percentage increase in GDP for the first quarter of 2024 is predicted to be only 0.2%. Preparing for the forthcoming quarters, Seco's economists emphasize that the Swiss economy continues to progress, albeit at a sluggish pace, as it did over the past three quarters, "to the" same pattern.
