Since her success on "Germany's Next Topmodel" 13 years back, Rebecca Mir (32) has largely remained the same. Her signature long, dark tresses have become her most distinguishable feature. "I'm quite fond of my long hair. I think it'd be quite challenging for me to part with it," the presenter and model shares during her new role as the ambassador for L'Oréal Paris Elnett.
Personally, Mir prefers a ponytail, especially since becoming a mom. "My style changed quite significantly after I became a mom since it had to be practical." She discusses balancing work, red carpets and family life with her husband Massimo Sinató (43) in the interview.
In front of the camera or strutting the runway, you're typically well-groomed. How much time do you invest in your grooming privately?
Rebecca Mir: In my line of work, it can sometimes take up to 2-3 hours in the make-up chair, but on a personal level, it needs to be quick and simple for me. My style has changed significantly since becoming a mom due to its practicality. I often wear my hair in a ponytail. Since I have fine hair, I always need to fix it with hairspray. I've probably been using L'Oréal Paris Elnett hairspray since I was 15.
Shoulder-length hair would be more functional in daily life. Have you ever pondered cutting your long hair?
Mir: I must admit that I have considered it and still do from time to time, but I genuinely love my long hair, and I find it challenging to let it go. A chic lob is quite trendy at the moment, and I think it's a great look; however, I love my long hair far too much. Nonetheless, a lob can be achieved by pinning up your hair or using hairpieces to create various hairstyles.
What would your husband think of a lob?
Mir: Fortunately, my husband appreciates me with any hairstyle.
Has he experimented with different hairstyles for you, such as curls, braids, or completely straight?
Mir: When it comes to styling, we often discuss what we prefer and what works well together. Of course, he also asks me for recommendations. At red-carpet events, he ensures the attire harmonizes with my outfit because I always know exactly what I'll wear.
It seems your son inherited his father's curly hair?
Mir: Yes, we all have curly hair in the family.
How do you maintain family life while both of you are often on the move for work?
Mir: I try my best to schedule trips so I'm only absent for a day or two at a time and have some downtime in-between. When I moderate "taff", we spend the entire week together in Munich and have a pretty good time. This way, we're familiar with various playgrounds across Germany and different fun spots. We also visit museums and swim in indoor or outdoor pools, so we're quite familiar with our surroundings.
What was the longest period you were away from your son?
Me: I've never been apart from my son for more than two days, and that was only after he turned three. He's now in kindergarten, and he's becoming more independent. I'd rather spend time with him and explore the world together than being apart. He finds the camera intriguing, even if he isn't always eager to be in front of it.
With all this activity, do you find any time for yourself?
Me: I must confess that I've neglected that area a bit, but I've started focusing on exercise: gym and kickboxing. This is my "me" time, when I can let loose, have fun, and enjoy it. I'm now dedicating more time to that.
What would you do if you had an entire day to yourself?
Me: I don't get an entire day to myself. As a mother, you feel like you're always on call, 24/7. I'm not even sure what I would do, as it feels like so long ago. But I'd probably sleep a lot; I love sleeping. (laughs)
Rebecca Mir uses L'Oréal Paris Elnett hairspray to keep her fine hair in place, particularly when wearing a ponytail. Despite considering a lob, Mir cherishes her long hair and finds it challenging to let go, even as shoulder-length hair can be more practical in daily life.
