Shannen Doherty's (1971-2024) former co-stars and co-actors from "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" paid tribute to the actress after her death at the age of 53. Jason Priestley (54), who played Doherty's twin brother Brandon Walsh in "90210", shared a photo on Instagram of the two series stars. "I am shocked and saddened by the death of my friend Shannen", he wrote in the post. "She was a force of nature and I will miss her. I send love and light to her family in this dark time".

Carol Potter (76), who played the series mother Cindy Walsh, also paid tribute to Doherty on social media. Potter wrote: "What a journey she had! Gone too soon. She remained true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in the face of her own death. May she rest in peace."

Doherty's "Beverly Hills, 90210" co-star Brian Austin Green (51), who played the role of David, posted an emotional message on Instagram. "Shan. My sister... You have loved me through it all", he wrote. "You were a big part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can process right now. Thank you for the gift you have given me."

Gabrielle Carteris (63), who played Andrea Zuckerman in "Beverly Hills, 90210", remembered Doherty and Luke Perry (1966-2019), who played her friend Dylan and died in 2019 from a stroke. "So young - so sad", she wrote. "Rest in peace, Shannen. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you."

Jennie Garth (52), who played Brenda's best friend Kelly in the series, also spoke out. She posted an old photo of the two together and wrote: "I am still processing my immense grief over the loss of my longtime friend Shannen, the woman I have often referred to as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and authentic. We were often portrayed as being at odds, but nothing reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was built on mutual respect and admiration. She was brave, passionate, determined, and very loving and generous. I will miss her and honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories."

Reactions from the "Charmed" stars

Alyssa Milano (51), who worked with Doherty on the series "Charmed", told "Entertainment Weekly": "It's no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship." Further in her statement, the actress said: "But at the core, she was someone I deeply respected and had great admiration for. She was a talented actress who was loved by many, and the world will be less without her. My condolences to all who loved her."

Also, "Charmed" star Rose McGowan (50), who replaced Doherty on the show, mourned on social media: "Shannen Doherty had the heart of a lion", McGowan wrote on Instagram. "Passion for the craft is often mistakenly labeled as anger. Shannen was passion. I met her in the 90s and was impressed. Later in life, getting to know her was a wonderful gift. This woman fought for her life."

Shannen Doherty fought against breast cancer for years

Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2015. In between, she was considered cured, but in 2017, breast cancer returned in the fourth stage. According to her own statements, she went public again to prevent false reports.

In 2020, Doherty spoke about her breast cancer being advanced and now considered incurable. In June 2023, she revealed that she had metastases in the brain. At the end of 2023, she announced that her bones were also affected by the cancer.
