Singer and presenter Gunther Emmerlich has died at the age of 79. This was reported by MDR. According to MDR, the opera singer and entertainer died "unexpectedly". On Sunday, he performed at a Christmas concert in Lößnitz in Saxony, and a week ago he was a surprise guest at a Christmas concert in Ronneburg for a good cause. He was also recently a guest on the MDR program "Riverboat".
Gunther Emmerlich comes from Eisenberg in Thuringia and studied opera singing at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar from 1967 to 1972. At this time, he was already appearing as a singer on GDR television. He later became a member of the Dresden Semperoper ensemble and enjoyed success as a television presenter.
