"Berlin" and more - The series highlights for the month of December

"House of Money" continues on Netflix in December. In the series spin-off"Berlin", Pedro Alonso (52) once again plays fan favorite Berlin. With "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon", another fan favorite is also getting its own spin-off show. Meanwhile, younger viewers can look forward to imaginative family entertainment on the Disney+ streaming service.

An overview of the most exciting series reboots and new seasons of popular series.

"The Wasp": From December 2 on Sky and Wow

Series December kicks off with the return of the popular German comedy series "Die Wespe". In season three, darts legend Eddie (Florian Lukas, 50) meets his older brother and arch-enemy Ecki Frotzke (Matthias Matschke, 55), whom he hasn't seen for years. Ecki seems to have it in for the wasp.

When Eddie suddenly finds himself homeless during a tournament, teenager Maxie (Sophie Paasch) also introduces herself to him, offers him a place to stay for the night and later claims to be his daughter. Naturally, wife Manu (Lisa Wagner, 44) doesn't like this at all. She unceremoniously kicks Eddie out of their apartment until the paternity is clarified. Maxie, meanwhile, urges Eddie to train her as a darts player.

The third season of "The Wasp" is at least the last of the series on Sky. This is because the pay TV and streaming provider has pulled out of producing its own series this year. It is therefore still unclear whether "The Wasp" will be continued with a fourth season. A trailer also sets the mood for the third edition of the witty comedy series.

"The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon": From December 8 on Magenta TV

The epic zombie series "The Walking Dead" ended last year after an impressive 177 episodes. But the popular undead saga will continue with several spin-offs. After "The Walking Dead: Dead City" about Maggie and Negan, the series"Daryl Dixon" is now being released, in which everything revolves around the thuggish fan favorite from the title, played by Norman Reedus (54).

In the new series, Daryl washes up on the coast of France. In a fortified convent, he meets the nun Isabelle (Clémence Poésy, 41) and a boy called Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who is seen as a kind of messiah by the religious group. Together they embark on a journey through France, which has been devastated by the zombie plague.

"The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" will be released in Germany on December 8 on Magenta TV. The series has already been renewed for a second season, for which fan favorite Melissa McBride (58) will return as Daryl's congenial partner Carol. The German trailer gets you in the mood for "Daryl Dixon".

"Reacher": From December 15 on Amazon Prime Video

Amazon's streaming service Prime Video landed a veritable hit at the beginning of 2022 with the premiere season of the Lee Child adaptation "Reacher". Now muscleman Alan Ritchson (41) returns as ex-military policeman Jack Reacher for the second season of the action series. In the new episodes, the title character learns that members of his former army unit are being cruelly murdered. Together with ex-comrades Frances Neagley (Maria Sten, 34), Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan, 39) and David O'Donnell (Shaun Sipos, 42), Jack Reacher takes up the cause.

Audiences and critics were full of praise for the first "Reacher" season. Leading actor Alan Ritchson and the breathtaking action scenes were particularly praised. After the first volume of the Jack Reacher book series entitled "Killing Floor" (German title: "Größenwahn") was adapted for season one, the eleventh volume, "Bad Luck and Trouble" (German title: "Trouble"), now serves as the template. In addition to those mentioned, former "Terminator 2" star Robert Patrick (65) is also involved. The German trailer gets you in the mood for the action series.

"Percy Jackson: The Series": From December 20 on Disney+

Following the rather mixed reception of the two cinema films "Percy Jackson - Thieves on Olympus" (2010) and "Under the Cyclops' Spell" (2013), the story of demigod Percy Jackson is being retold in a streaming series on Disney+. The special thing about the series project is that, unlike the short-lived film series, original author Rick Riordan (59) was involved in "Percy Jackson: The Series" as co-creator from the very beginning, which is why fans of the book series can look forward to a faithful adaptation this time.

In the new fantasy show on Disney+, the title character Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell, 14) discovers that he has formidable powers as the son of the Greek god of the sea Poseidon. Then Zeus, lord of the gods, accuses him of stealing his ruler's lightning bolt. Together with his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri, 17) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy sets off on an adventure.

Leading actor Walker Scobell is known from the time travel film "The Adam Project", in which he played the younger version of the main character played by superstar Ryan Reynolds (47). In terms of age, Scobell is much closer to Riordan's character than actor Logan Lerman (31), who played Percy Jackson on the big screen. A trailer gets you in the mood for the upcoming series.

"Berlin": From December 29 on Netflix

The heist series "House of Money", which ended in 2021, is still one of the most popular Netflix series ever. Viewers particularly loved the characters in the show created by Álex Pina (56) and centered around the Professor (Álvaro Morte, 48) and his team members Tokio (Úrsula Corberó, 34) and Berlin (Pedro Alonso). The latter is now getting his own spin-off in series form with "Berlin".

Long before he fell seriously ill and set out to rob the Spanish banknote printing plant, the series "Berlin" shows the urbane and hardened criminal Andrés de Fonollosa - better known as Berlin - in his middle years. The criminal genius assembles a new group of helpers to steal from "the biggest auction house in Paris", as the trailer for the upcoming Netflix series puts it.

The spin-off "Berlin" is once again co-created by "House of Money" creator Álex Pina. Judging by the trailer, the spin-off also offers all the successful ingredients of the parent series, such as an ingenious, sophisticated heist, dazzling characters who get to know each other over the course of the plot and, of course, a highly charismatic lead actor in Pedro Alonso. The two popular actresses Najwa Nimri (played Inspectora Alicia Sierra, 51) and Itziar Ituño (Raquel Murillo, 49) are also returning from "House of Money" and will be taking part in "Berlin".
