Albert and Charlène of Monaco - The Princely Family shows off their Christmas photo

The European royal families are in the Christmas spirit: after the British, among others, have already shown their Christmas cards on social media this year, the Monegasque royal family is now following suit. The new official Christmas photo of Prince Albert II (65) and his wife, Princess Charlène of Monaco (45), can be admired on the Instagram channel. The family portrait not only shows the princely couple, but also their two children Jacques and Gabriella (9).

The entire family is dressed in festive and chic attire: Charlène is sitting on a small bench with the twins in a shimmering golden velvet dress. Son Jacques wears a suit with a velvet bow tie like his father Albert, while daughter Gabriella wears a purple velvet dress like her mother. Glamorous Christmas decorations in princely gold can be seen in the background.

The twins only recently had a birthday

The twins recently celebrated their birthday: On December 9, the two princely children turned nine years old. To mark the occasion, the palace also published a photo of the two of them on social media, in which they are smiling into the camera arm in arm: "Happy birthday to Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella."

In an interview with "Monaco-Matin" in September, their mother revealed more about her children's personalities: "Gabriella is quite spontaneous, she has a certain self-confidence. Jacques is very reserved, but very attentive." The Princess continued: "They complement each other to a certain extent and are gradually winning over those around them. But they are still young and are developing from day to day." As for her children's sporting preferences, Charlène said that Gabriella has a passion for hip-hop dancing and Jacques practises taekwondo. "It's about giving them a good education, self-confidence and a happy childhood."

Charlène and Prince Albert II got married on July 1, 2011, followed by the church wedding the day after. In December 2014, the twins Gabriella and Jacques were born.
