The Minnesota Vikings inked a four-year contract extension for their standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson, elevating him to the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

Undisclosed financial aspects of the agreement, but the Vikings mentioned that it's a record-breaker for non-QBs in the NFL.

Sources including ESPN's Adam Schefter, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, and Tom Pelissero report a 4-year deal worth $140 million, with $110 million guaranteed. The estimated $35 million yearly salary outranks the $34 million annual salary of San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, making Jefferson the league's highest-paid non-QB, according to Spotrac.

Jefferson celebrated the extension on social media, showing gratitude to his parents and brothers - "I've been waiting for this deal since I was a child".

There were doubts over his future in Minnesota, but Jefferson, since joining the team in the 2020 NFL Draft, has established himself as one of the league's best wide receivers.

His impressive stats: - 392 receptions, - 5,899 yards - 30 touchdowns in four years. He's one of only five players with 5,000-plus receiving yards in their first four seasons. His 98.3 receiving yards per game is the highest in NFL history, with a minimum of 50 games.

In 2022, he thrived as a superstar, with the highest number of receptions and receiving yards in the league, earning him the Offensive Player of the Year title.

Vikings' owners Mark and Zygi Wilf stated in a press release, "Over the first four seasons of his career, Justin has solidified himself as the top wide receiver and one of the most exciting players in the NFL. He is a rare talent, a dedicated team member, and a perfect face for the Vikings. Justin deserves this contract, and we can't wait for him to remain a Minnesota Viking for many years."

Despite lackluster playoff achievements thus far, first-round rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy might change that in the near future.
