The Lenhardt family challenges Jerome Boateng's claims

Jerome Boateng, a football star, is facing assault allegations in a court in Munich. During this trial, Boateng also discussed his late ex-girlfriend, Kasia Lenhardt. The family of Lenhardt has publicly spoken about the matter.

The family of the late Kasia Lenhardt, who was Jerome Boateng's ex-girlfriend in 2021, has issued their first statement in the ongoing trial of Boateng in Munich. Berlin media lawyer Markus Hennig, who represents the family, expressed his thoughts critically: "It's unfair for heartfelt words to be written by lawyers and read out in a stiff manner from a piece of paper."

Boateng stands accused of assault in Munich. Another ex-partner has accused him of physically attacking her. At the beginning of the trial, Boateng made a detailed statement to respond to the allegations.

The 35-year-old footballer also talked about Kasia Lenhardt: "I've kept quiet about Kasia since her demise out of respect for her, her son, and her family." However, he denies "all the lies, half-truths, and false accusations that were fabricated from all that and from the unfortunate death of Kasia Lenhardt," according to Boateng.

Reference to earlier interview

When Boateng talks about "respect for Kasia, her son, and her family," one may question what he meant by his interview from February 2021, as per Hennig. "That exact interview, as we all know, led to intense bullying and premature judgment of Kasia Lenhardt," said Hennig.

Approximately one week before Lenhardt's death, Boateng gave a newspaper interview about their relationship. Lenhardt's mother sued Boateng for an injunction. The Landgericht Berlin decided that Boateng was forbidden from making statements about his ex-partner. In total, the court proceedings involved six statements. Lenhardt's mother filed an appeal - the appellate hearing at the Berliner Kammergericht was scheduled for August 1, 2021.

In the interview, Boateng discussed conflicts in the relationship with his ex-girlfriend. His statements depicted their daughter in a negative light, claimed the plaintiff. Boateng's lawyer clarified in the trial that the football player regretted the interview.

"Not in agreement in the name of the family"

Lenhardt was a contestant in "Germany's Next Topmodel" in 2012 and later in a relationship with Boateng. Shortly before his interview was published, the couple had separated. On February 9, 2021, Lenhardt's family announced through a lawyer that she had passed away. The Berlin police confirmed an incident where an unresponsive person was found. There were no signs of external influence, they said.

"He may speak from the heart about respect, but he should end the court proceedings with the family and commit to never repeating all the horrible and false allegations about Kasia Lenhardt again," said lawyer Hennig now. "Boateng's attempts to use Kasia Lenhardt to further his own interests after her death and manipulate public opinion hurts the family of the deceased once more. I, as a lawyer, and in the name of the family, am not in agreement," said Hennig.

The ongoing trial in Munich concerning an incident with another ex-girlfriend of Boateng's during their Caribbean vacation in 2018 is set to continue on Friday. Moreover, Boateng's former partner, who accuses him of domestic violence, has been called as a witness. The woman, who is also the mother of two children with Boateng, is appearing as a co-plaintiff in the case.
