The legendary voice actor Rainer Brandt is dead.

He lent his unmistakable voice to superstars like Elvis Presley, Tony Curtis, or Jean-Paul Belmondo. Now, voice actor Rainer Brandt has passed away at the age of 88. Actor Terence Hill is grateful for their last meeting.

We mourn the loss of actor, voice actor, and dialogue writer Rainer Brandt. As confirmed by his family to "Bild", he passed away peacefully at home on August 1st at the age of 88.

Over the decades, Brandt lent his German voice to numerous entertainment legends, including Elvis Presley, Hollywood star Tony Curtis, and French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo. He also wrote the humorous lines for the German versions of films featuring the Italian acting duo Terence Hill and Bud Spencer.

Brandt began his career in the 1950s when he accidentally auditioned for a synchronization studio instead of a film studio. Simultaneously, he pursued an acting education at the Max Reinhardt School in Vienna. As an actor, he appeared in various films and series and also performed on stage.

Rainer Brandt leaves behind his wife Ursula Heyer, who is also a voice actor and actress. The couple has two children who have followed in their parents' footsteps. His daughter Judith has lent her voice to Sophie Marceau and Monica Bellucci, while his son Andrej Brandt has voiced Larry Hovis in "Kelly's Heroes".

Terence Hill Pays Tribute

Terence Hill has already spoken out about the death of Rainer Brandt. In an interview with "Bild", he said that Brandt played a "huge role" in making their successful films even more popular in Germany. He expressed his sadness at Brandt's passing, saying, "His wit was fantastic and brought many people together. We had a nice reunion in Berlin a few years ago, which I remember fondly."

On the official Instagram account of the late Bud Spencer, who passed away in 2016, it was stated: "We have just learned of the death of Rainer Brandt. He was instrumental in the success of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill in Germany. He wasn't just a voice actor, but also a dialogue writer who invented the so-called 'Schnodderdeutsch', making Hill and Spencer fan favorites in Germany. He also played a significant role in the success of the crime series 'The Persuaders' with Roger Moore and Tony Curtis, with its iconic lines like 'Saddle the Dachshund' still being popular today. Thank you for your work, which will continue to bring us laughter for a long time to come." Many fans of Rainer Brandt are likely thinking the same thing.

Terence Hill acknowledged the significant role Rainer Brandt played in making their collaborative films popular in Germany, expressing his gratitude for their last meeting. In Bud Spencer's tribute on Instagram, Brandt was praised for not only voicing Hill and Spencer but also creating the humorous 'Schnodderdeutsch' dialogue, which contributed to their fame in Germany.
