- The late individual's cremated remains have been transformed into adornments.
O.J. Simpson's offspring, who include Arnelle (55), Jason (54), Sydney (38), and Justin (36), have manufactured jewelry from their father's cremated remains, as disclosed by his long-term lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne, on the notorious U.S. gossip website "TMZ".
According to the source, Simpson passed away in April after a lengthy battle with cancer. His children consented to having his ashes transformed into a variety of jewelry pieces, which were subsequently divided among them.
The Simpson family announced on the social media site X in April that their beloved father, Orenthal James Simpson, had passed away at the age of 76 due to cancer-related complications. "On April 10, our dear father, O.J. Simpson, lost his struggle against cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the statement read.
The Infamous O.J. Simpson Trial
Previously, O.J. Simpson was a highly renowned figure in the United States and was regarded as one of the top football stars of his era. He also acted in numerous films within the "The Naked Gun" series, alongside the late Leslie Nielsen (1926-2010).
However, it was mainly through a landmark criminal trial, dubbed the "Trial of the Century," that Simpson garnered international notoriety. He was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her companion, Ronald Goldman. The trial was marked by a high level of public interest, and Simpson was ultimately acquitted in 1995.
Despite this, he was ordered to pay a total of $33.5 million in damages to the families in a subsequent civil trial. Simpson also spent several years behind bars. In 2008, he was sentenced to a maximum of 33 years in prison for armed robbery, although this term was reduced to nine years in 2017.
Despite the legal turmoil, O.J. Simpson's children have shown an unusual interest in his memory. Apart from creating jewelry from his cremated remains, they have also considered selling other articles of apparel that belonged to their father to raise funds.
These potential sales could include a variety of items, such as his iconic football jerseys, movie costumes, or even T-shirts signed by Simpson during his meeting with fans. However, as of now, there have been no official announcements regarding these plans.
